What are Live Activities?

Live Activities offer a convenient way for users to stay informed about the progress of events or tasks within your app. They provide up-to-date information that can be easily accessed, allowing users to monitor important updates and developments at a glance. By offering persistent locations for displaying frequently updated information, Live Activities assist users in effectively managing and keeping track of tasks and events that are of interest to them.

What is MoveInSync?

MoveInSync is a company that helps businesses manage transportation for their employees. They offer a service or software that handles everything from scheduling rides to tracking vehicles. This ensures employees get to work safely and on time.

Additionally, they analyze data to find ways to make transportation more efficient.

Why Live Activities?

In the Moveinsync app, whenever a cab is assigned to an employee they have to open the app again and again to track the status of their cab.  





Now with live activities, the employee doesn’t have to open their app again and again. Instead the employee can just see the status of their cab on their homescreen.

My Role and Responsibilities

I was in charge of creating the live activities right from the beginning, working closely with the product manager and the developers. Together, we made sure that the design looked perfect when it was turned into a real product.

An employee who uses moveinsync app.

Challenges Faced

Due to technical constraints stemming from the use of an outdated technology stack in the employee experience app, we encountered limitations in displaying the exact location from where the cab would pick up the user within the Live Activities card.

User Story

As a user, Jay needs to know the status of his cab pickup scheduled through MoveInSync's employee experience app. He typically wakes up at 6 am, gets ready by 7 am, and has scheduled his cab for office at 8 am.

After that, he opens the app to check the cab's status but feels anxious after 10 minutes, worrying if he saw the correct time. To alleviate this concern, Live Activities is introduced.

Now, Jay can easily view the status of his cab, including the pickup time, driver details, and ratings, without repeatedly opening the app, ensuring a smoother and stress-free experience.

Expected Outcome

The aim is to minimize the need of frequent app openings.
